Structural engineering
is a branch or basic area of civil engineering which deals with the planning, designing
of structural members of the building such as columns, beams, slab, footings etc.
It is a technique
of working out the dimensions of the structural members according to the load on
the structure to support the dead and live loads.
Methods of the
Design of Structure:
There are mainly three methods of the design of structure:
- Working stress method.
- Ultimate load theory.
- Limit state method.
· Design of structural elements.
